How To Apply Makeup for Beginners
The secret to a great makeup at home is to take it one step at a time. By that I mean you should make your face up one feature at a time. If you’re working on your eyebrows, concentrate on that till you are satisfied with what you see before proceeding to the next feature.
In this makeup tutorial for beginners, I’ll give you a step-by-step instruction on how to do perfect makeup at home. Let’s go.
Prep your face
You’ll start by cleaning dirt off your face. A great makeup starts with a clean skin. Wash your face with a mild soap or cleanser. Moisturize your face lightly, afterwards. Do this a couple of minutes (5 minutes will do) before applying foundation.
Work on your Eyebrows
Give good attention to your brows as great eyebrows will help to enhance the shape of your face. Use a brow pencil to outline and shade the structure of your eyebrows. If you aren’t confident yet about drawing out your brow with a pencil, use a brow gel to contour your brows.
Apply Your Foundation
Apply foundation to your face in small dots. You can use your fingertips to dab on foundation to your forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. Now use a foundation brush or your fingers to blend and spread the spots out evenly. For a faster and perfect blend, move the brush in a circular pattern while spreading the foundation. Above all, make sure to use a foundation that is suitable for your complexion and skin tone.
Apply Concealer
A concealer helps to mask any scar or blemish you would like covered. Use a brush to lightly apply concealer under your eyes to hide dark circles, on your nose, and any other place you choose. Use a light coating of the concealer and blend it smoothly for a natural look. Have a look at our concealer shades click here
Apply Loose Powder
Applying a translucent powder after the concealer will help to set it. Use a smooth powder puff to dab on the powder to your face. Have a look at our Pro Setting Powder here
Contour with Bronzer
Apply bronzer to enhance places like your cheekbones, tip of the nose and forehead. A bronzer highlights and adds definition to these features. For bronzers click here.
Blush Up
Applying blush to your cheeks makes your face appear livelier and your makeup to look more natural. Smile to highlight the apples of your cheek and apply blush on those exact spots. Dab on your blush, and working upwards in an outer motion, blend it in until the blush looks natural. Have a look at our blushers here.
Put on Eyeshadow
Apply eyeshadow to your eyes using a small shadow brush or your fingers to make short swipes across your eyelids. Set the eyeshadow with a little dab of translucent powder.
Line Your Eyes
Working in short strokes, apply black/brown pencil or gel eyeliner along the lash lines of your eyelids. For Twist-up Pencils click here. For Wooden Pencils click here.
Curl Your Lashes
Curl your upper lashes with a lash curler.
Apply Mascara
Apply a coat of mascara to your upper and lower eyelashes. Have a look at our mascara here
Line Your Lips
Use a lip liner in a shade close to your lips colour to trace the shape of your lips before applying lipstick or lip gloss. This makes your lips appear fuller and more appealing. For Twist-up Pencils click here. For Wooden Pencils click here.
Add Colour to Your Lips
Purse your lips, and apply lipstick or lip gloss to the center of your lower and upper lips. Blend with your fingertips. Have a look at our lipstick colours here
You did it!
Now check out your makeup in a mirror (under a bright light or preferably daylight), admire the finished look and blow your cute self a big kiss. Throw on a sweet smile and you’re ready to take on the world.
