The main purpose of wearing makeup is to look good by highlighting our best features and toning down on the imperfections. However, it’s possible to lose focus and end up creating the exact opposite of what you set out to achieve. This is usually unintentional of course, and the awkward part is that you might even assume that you’re getting it all right and boldly continue scoring goals against yourself.
In this article, I’ll be sharing with you some makeup mistakes many women make, and how to avoid these common beauty mistakes.
Not moisturizing your Face
Some makeup products can dry out your skin, and therefore it’s vital to moisturize your face before applying makeup. This will not only hydrate your skin cells but also helps to keep your makeup from flaking.
Skipping out on a Primer
Primers help you achieve a smooth and even makeup. Not applying a primer before applying foundation could lead to a less-than-perfect, washed-out makeup. A primer will also make your makeup last all day long. The correct sequence for makeup is to wash and apply moisturizer to your face, put on a primer and then apply foundation. Notwithstanding, for everyday use, a good moisturizer can act as a primer.
Using too much Concealer
Who doesn’t like a flawless, airbrushed-like skin? That’s every woman’s dream, however in attempting to create a perfect finish many women go overboard with the concealer and end up using way too much. This will only make you look older. Use concealer sparingly, and build up as required. Also use a good makeup brush to blend it in neatly. For concealer shades click here For concealer colourmatch tester palette click here
Caking up on the Foundation
Thickly layering up foundation on your face may seem like a good idea for creating the perfect airbrushed effect, but in actual fact it’s a wrong makeup step. Putting on a thick layer of foundation can make fine lines appear wrinkled. If using a liquid foundation, apply it in thin spots with your fingertips before blending in with a brush. The aim is to create a natural look. Using the wrong shade of Foundation
You want your makeup to be noticed for the right reasons, one being that it looks good and appealing on you. Don’t use a shade of foundation that doesn’t match your skin tone and undertones. Oh, you’ll surely be noticed; the wrong shade of foundation will stand out awkwardly and make sure that everyone notices you for the wrong reason. (See how to choose the right shade of foundation here).
Over-shading the Eyebrows
Your brows define and contour your face, tracing out your brows wrongly can leave you with an angry scowl on your face or make you look like a circus clown. It’s important you take time to learn how to shape your brows. Follow the natural outline of your eyebrows and use a pencil colour that is in the same shade as your natural eyebrow to highlight your brows. Using the wrong Colour of Lipstick
When it comes to lipsticks, there are no restrictions. I agree. However, not every lip colour looks good on every woman. The wrong lipstick shade can make your complexion appear sallow and sickly. Dark lipstick shade makes your lips look thinner, and isn’t well-suited for those with thin lips. In addition, don’t underrate the amazing effect of using lip-liner to trace out your natural lip line. Don’t overdraw the line or your lips will appear too large. For our Lipstick shades click here
Over-using dark Eye shadows
Applying a dark eye shadow over your entire eyelid makes you look older. Dark eye shadows should be restricted to the outer edge of your lids. For our eye shadow palette click here
